Unless you have been in a cave the past few days you have, no doubt, seen and/or heard of Susan Boyle, the woman from Scotland who wowed the judges, audience and now the world in "Britains Got Talent" audition, with her rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” from “Les Miserables”. She has, no doubt, a God given talent to move people with her voice, which is so very beautiful. But, I hope along with the enjoyment of her singing the world will re-learn a seemingly forgotten lesson.
From the “You Tube” video that has been viewed millions of times this week, we see not only judges but audience members snickering and rolling their eyes at Miss Boyle’s “cheeky” desire to be a great singer. You can almost hear the unspoken “well, you don’t look like a great singer” trip from their mouths. Here was a middle aged, unemployed, average looking woman from a village in Scotland with enough confidence in her talent to put herself into the path of human buzz saws because she knew she had talent, but her packaging belied the fact.
How often have all of us not given someone a second look or a half a chance because their packaging did not fit our preconceived notion of looks and success? More than we care to remember, I dare say. Our young people idolize the thin, waifish models strutting down the runway and think “what is wrong with me that I don’t look like that?” Our young men schlump around in hats turned sideways, and pants half off emulating who knows what because they lack confidence to stand tall and be an individual, proud in who and what they are or can become. We all have stood in front of the mirror and moaned about our perfectly healthy bodies that our rear is too big, our nose is too long, our teeth aren’t white enough, our legs are too skinny, and on and on.
One of the judges called Miss Boyle’s performance a wake- up call. I hope so, especially for our young people who struggle so with their self-images. I hope, too, that we as a society will take a long look at ourselves inwardly and vow not to (as the old saying goes) “judge a book by its cover”. Open that cover and look for the beauty that lies in each and every one of us. The delight that may come to you may be as stunning as Ms. Boyle’s performance.
So, Bravo! Susan Boyle. Thank you for your profound belief in your own talent, for the belief you deserved a chance no matter your age, and most of all, for your truly beautiful voice. Your have touched a nerve in humanity’s soul and exposed us for what we truly are, at times quite shallow. God Bless You!

Eventually we will get the same # but I got internet and cable tv through different company and by getting a phone with the other two services, it ended up cheaper for 3 things (phone, internet, cable) for a year. For $40 they’ll transfer my phone #. it will probably cost more. they quoted me one price and I see online the charges are double that! when i get the bill, I’ll have to find out what’s up.

If you would see Susan Boyle on the show, she was mocked and a girl even rolled her eyes because all the shallow people thought you would have to be glamorous to possess talent. But when she started singing everyone (including you probably) got a wake up call and realized you should never judge a book by it's cover. YOU obviously haven't learnt a thing from that video. YOU should accept people the way they are.
Today i set up some appts, tried to fix the voicemail for the new phone #, hung a new curtain rod and pinned up some curtains. they ket looking uneven and i measured over and over until I realized the door was a bit uneven! i also cleaned some of the wood paneling with toothbrush and brought 3 carfuls of things over to the house.

Assuming that each person has only watched it once (which is definitely not the case), 120mil/6.77billion X 100% = around 1.77% of the world population has watched susan boyle on youtube, and this is very very inaccurate and unreliable
Collective, I am too self centered to slow down and appreciate the sounds of angels. If I allow this song in it would make me soft and I would cry and others would eat my innocents with malt and chips.
